Frequently Asked Questions
Does this cookware require any seasoning?
Carbon Steel is ready to use right out of the box – no maintenance, no learning curve, no fussy seasoning before or after cooking. With every cooking session, oil penetrates its smooth surface, bonding to the metal for better food release. Always cook with oil or butter, and preheat on low-to-medium for results you’ll love.
Can I use it on any stove? Or in the oven?
Yes to both. Carbon Steel works on any stovetop–gas, electric, glass, and induction. It’s also tough enough for grills, pizza ovens, and open flames, since it can handle temps up to 1000°F.
If I use it in the oven, will the handles get hot?
Our durable long stainless steel handles stay cool* on the stove, but they will get hot when used in the oven or over an open flame. Use mitts or grips when transferring.
*Stay-cool applies only to long handles. All other handles are not stay-cool and become hot to the touch during use. Use caution.
Is it heavier than cast iron?
Carbon Steel is half the weight of cast iron, making it easier to handle without sacrificing any cooking performance. A perfect sear without the wear on your wrist? Please and thank you.
Is it metal-utensil safe?
Yes! Carbon Steel is tough enough to handle metal utensils without scratching.
Can I wash it after each use? What is the best way to clean it?
Absolutely! You can wash carbon steel after each use—simply clean it with warm water and a small amount of mild soap. Avoid soaking or using the dishwasher, and be sure to dry it thoroughly. If you like, you can do a “quick prep” and apply a thin layer of oil to the surface before storing. This keeps your pan ready for its next cook while enhancing its natural sheen (though it isn’t necessary).
Is it normal for my Carbon Steel to look like this after a few uses?
Yes, and that’s the beauty of it. EverLast is designed to transform. What you’re seeing means it’s doing its job (brilliantly). With every use, Carbon Steel cookware darkens and develops unique patterns that reflect your culinary journey. It’s a sign of growing strength and deepening flavor that will only get better with each use.
We believe there’s beauty in imperfection, and that’s what sets EverLast Carbon Steel apart.
